Who can safely say they’ve dined in the trees before?
Treepod dining at Soneva Kiri: think tea, scones, sandwiches, croissants…all served to you while suspended 35 feet above the ground, surrounded by the forest canopy.
At Soneva Kiri Resort located on Koh Kood, an island in the Gulf of Thailand, visitors have the extremely unique chance to experience Treepod Dining. With waiters delivering your food and drinks via zip line, this is something not to be missed!
What meals do they serve at Soneva Kiri’s Treepod dining?
With choices between breakfast, lunch, dinner, or high tea, we went with high tea. This gave us the opportunity to avoid the main heat of the day while munching on a combination of savory and sweet snacks.
How much does Treepod dining cost?
While definitely on the pricier side, you pay for the experience more than for the food! Contact Soneva Kiri for more information on specific prices.
What food is served at Treepod dining?
The food varies according to the chosen meal, but expect traditional choices with the choice to customize your own! One of the wonderful aspects of Soneva Kiri is the staff’s desire to tailor your experience, letting you pick whatever your heart desires.
How does Treepod dining actually work?
Treepod dining utilizes one of the most unique delivery systems: your food is carried in a picnic-style basket by the waiter, who ziplines himself to the platform next to your treepod. There, he removes the ingredients and presents them to you—served like a pro!
Photography Tips to dining in the trees
What would such an experience be without some photos to commemorate this? While I actually carried my drone with me there, the forest was so thick with limited room for take off/landing that unless you’re a pro drone pilot, flying the drone is a little difficult in the area.
The best way to capture the experience is to take a camera that’s good in low light, paired with a wide angle lens to capture the magnitude of the space. Then hand your camera to your multi-talented waiter/zipliner, who will be able to take photos from various angles along the zipline/ground! I recommend the following:
- Canon 5D Mark III paired with a Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 L II USM
- Sony RX100 compact camera, if you don’t want to lug around a DSLR
- If you’re comfortable flying a drone, I recommend the DJI Mavic Pro
Other notes on Treepod dining
I would highly recommend wearing loose clothing (taking into consideration the heat) but also ones that cover your legs. Though they have bug spray, there are still mosquitoes around!
